A small boat trip on a clear day
The sun is up and the sky is clear. We walk down to the bay at nine. The boat waits for us by the dock. Dad holds the rope and I hop on board.
The wind is soft and the sea is flat. We sail past the buoy and wave at the crew. Fish jump in the spray near the bow. The day feels good and the air is warm.
We eat bread and cheese on the deck. At dusk we head home with the tide. The lamp on the shore glows small and bright. We tie the boat and walk up the lane.
